Employee Spotlight - Getting to know Alyssa!
Alyssa joined the GCMTPL team as a library assistant in February 2023.
When asked what she likes best about working here at the library, she said, “processing new books & recommending books to patrons.” She shared that one of the most unique aspects about working here at the library is that everyone here on staff is so playful & mischievous. She stated, “You’re always kept on your toes and wondering what pranks may be waiting for you just around the corner.” What she loves most about being a library assistant is “getting to talk about and interact with some of my favorite things in the world—books and readers!” Fun Question & Answer w/ Alyssa: Prompt: “Name one thing – either personally or professionally – you learned in the last year.” Alyssa’s response: “I learned that saying ‘yes’ to more things—trips, opportunities, activities, etc.—makes life more fun and fulfilling, and can lead you to unexpected places. I said ‘yes’ to doing so many cool things, including applying for my job at the Gas City library!” Question: “What is a fact that few people know about you?” Alyssa’s response: “I’m a proficient flautist!” Question: “What do you like to do to unwind?” Alyssa’s response: “Read, play video games, spend time outside, hang out with my cat, and travel the world with my husband.” Question: “If there’s one thing you could tell your younger self, what would it be?” Alyssa’s response: “Eat more of your wedding cake. It was really good and you hardly got to have any of it. Also, take ergonomics seriously—back pain is no joke!” When you stop in the library, be sure to find Alyssa and say hello!
