Library Policies: Questions and Answers

How do I get a library card?

If you are a resident of Gas City or Mill Township, outside of incorporated towns, you need to bring proof of residence to the library. This proof of residence must be current and can include a driver’s license, utility bill, voter registration card, personalized checks, student i.d. card, or proof of property ownership. You will be asked to fill out a library registration card.

I don’t live in Gas City or Mill Township. Can I still use the library?

If you have a library card at another library, you may purchase a PLAC card for $30.00. If you don’t have a "home library", you can purchase a Non-Resident card for $55.00. Both PLAC and Non-Resident cards are good for one year from date of purchase.

How many library materials may I check out at one time?

You may check out 2 videos and/or DVDs and 10 of a combination of books, audiocassettes, CDs, and magazines.

How long can I keep the library materials?

Videos and DVDs can be checked out for 2 days. Books, audiocassettes, CDs, and magazines can be checked out for 2 weeks.

How old does my child need to be to get a library card?

A child of any age can get a library card with a parent or guardian’s permission. Children over the age of 14 can get a library card without a parent’s signature.

What are the late fees for overdue library materials?

Videos and DVDs are $1.00 per day per item.

Books, audiocassettes, CDs, and magazines are .05 per day per item.

Are there special rules for videos?
