Employee Spotlight - Getting to know Rita!
Rita joined the GCMTPL team as the Children's Librarian in 2001. She remembers her interview date quite well, as it was "the" 9/11. She has since transitioned into a semi-retired status and currently enjoys serving as a Library Assistant primarily in the children's department. She notes that, "the Gas City Library has been my 'happy place' since the 1950's. There's no other place I would rather be!"
When asked what she likes best about working here at the library, she said that she "loves reading to the kids and turning them on to great books. I enjoy the fact that I know the grandparents and great-grandparents of these kids." She says that she can "recognize a grin, or a twinkle in the eyes, inherited from a second grade classmate of mine!" Fun Question & Answer w/ Rita: Question: “What do you like to do to unwind?” Rita’s response: “I like to knit socks. This is when I do quite a bit of 'unwinding' and untangling!” Question: “If there’s one thing you could tell your younger self, what would it be?” Rita's response: “Relax & enjoy the ride!" When you stop in the library, be sure to find Miss Rita and say hello! Follow us on Facebook!Popular ServicesBook Bundles available - click the Programs tab for
